Key Tips To Prevent Skin Cancer

Are you doing these things to ensure you have healthy skin?

  • Skin Protection Tip 1: Schedule a skin cancer screening visit with your dermatologist at least once per year. By doing so, you will ensure that any skin cancers or potential cancers are spotted, treated and prevented.
  • Skin Protection Tip 2: Seek the shade whenever possible. Between 10 am and 4 pm UV rays tend to be at their strongest.
  • Skin Protection Tip 3: When in the sun, avoid direct sun exposure. Use an SPF rated sun screen. Daily use of an SPF 15 or stronger sun screen can lower your risk of melanoma by 50%. Re-applying sun screen every 2 hours or immediately after water exposure is suggested.
  • Skin Protection Tip 4: Self examine your skin regularly. No one knows your body better than you. If you notice any abnormalities, contact your dermatologist immediately.
